Why I do my Prenatal Massage Side-Lying

I know many women miss laying face down while pregnant.

I was a stomach sleeper myself before kids!

I have worked with the tables with the hole cut out and it is a nice, easy way to work on someone’s body.

But for me, I don’t feel my work is as effective. When you are in that position your muscles sink into your body and I cannot access them the way I want to.

When you are side-lying I am able to address your muscles in a more dynamic way. From different angles and I am able to apply a variety of pressure.

The #1 complaint in pregnancy is low back and hips. When you are laying face down I don’t want to put too much pressure on your lower back in that position because it could cause more strain to that area.

When you are side-lying, those muscles are in a position that allows me to sink deeper in a safe way.

Don’t worry you will be able to lay face down soon enough!

And a little FYI, I have not resumed my stomach sleeping post-kids!
